Studios. Desks. Offices. Garages. Benches. Closets. Work spaces.
What is it about our work spaces that so clearly comes to define the type of work we create? As creatives, we long to be surrounded by inspiration, perhaps never more so than when we are actually at work. Getting a glimpse into someone's work space informs so much about the artist behind the work; their love, their joy, their sense of form and design. It is a thrilling peek into the process–the behind the scenes–that we, the viewer, love to be privy to. It reminds us that all art has beginnings, it all comes from somewhere. From some work space.
The Work/Spaces project seeks to explore this fascination with the origins of art through personal inspiration. By featuring an artist's work space itself, we will get a rare glimpse into the creation and process of our favorite artists. Features will be informal–a photograph, a series of photographs, or maybe simply a series of words. Artists will be asked to showcase their work space in an honest light, showing the true environment that nurtures and shapes their work, therefore giving the viewer a rare look into not just the work, but the artist themselves.
