Newest in the Work/Spaces project is Montreal-based The Angry Weather. Designer Iveth Morales creates beautiful, whimsical jewelry from her home studio. I love her sense of playfulness and the nature-inspired forms in her work. Her designs are refreshingly simple in form, and her light, bright, and well-organized space perfectly reflects that aesthetic.
"My work space is a shared space with my family. I have to put away lots of the tools and materials I use after I'm done working for the day, and all around my space has to be super clean after each day's work, which requires a bit more effort of my part everyday. However, on the up side, I get to work from home, and I've developed a great routine for keeping everything as clean as possible, which I think is so important for jewelers. Plus, I get to work in pajamas if I feel like it! Although I dream of having my own studio one day, I absolutely love my work space right now.
I'd describe my work space as a bright, organized, and neat little corner, full of inspiring things. Organization is key to make it work, and when it's time to put things away I like to have a place for everything.
I have a lot of little things around my space that inspire me: photos, posters, wall hangings, and cards I've gotten from customers and friends. Little curiosities I find while walking or treasure hunting at antique markets: branches, old stamps, rocks, skeleton keys and coral reef specimens.
To have a work space where I feel inspired to do my thing is my creative core. I'm a visual person, and to be around things I like inspires me everyday." –Iveth
