The newest installment of the Work/Spaces project finds us visiting the gorgeous studio of Portland, Oregon-based Walnut Studiolo. Geoffrey Franklin is creating custom leather accessories for bikes that are both beautiful and beautifully-made. Along with the help of his lovely wife Valerie, Walnut Studiolo has created quite the buzz in the biking community. I love the respect of clean, functional design paired with whimsy and humor in Geoffrey's work (In fact, I first discovered Walnut when I featured their awesome 6-Pack Frame Cinch for my For Him, From Her Gift Guide back in December. So cute and hilarious!).
Alright, let's get to the pics!
I love how Valerie describes her husband's work space...
"The weight of cast iron tools in the hand,
the punch of a hammer,
the mingling smells of sawdust and old leather.
Focus, play, and inspiration."
– Valerie Franklin
